goggles or glasses

on the one hand i think - i shouldnt be worrying about how i look, just get some protection for your eyes.
but on the other hand, i just think goggles look over the top for trail/XC riding.

looking for some protective eyewear, and i dont want to spend more than £20.

glasses look fragile and more roadie than off-roadie - and they're effing expensive - so it looks like goggles are the way, but is there something a little more modest and less 'i want to look like i drop off the white cliffs of Dover' type rider....

could motorbike goggles be the answer...??

Just get some safety glasses. Bolle or something. Shouldn't cost more than a tenner.

Those ones look like they have foam edging, they'll just steam up in no time at all.

I prefer their more subtle looks to the "I'm from the future" look of some cycling eye ware.

They come with 4 sets of lenses: Clear, yellow, tinted and polarised. The yellow lenses are superb for night time riding, they really cut down the dazzle from car headlights, especially those annoying, over-bright, blue tinted halogens that some people fit, and the polarised lenses are great in bright sun.

nice - was considering safety glasses (like Bolle) but need something that will have a more secure fit...will those RSPs stay on when things get bumpy?

I've never had an issue, but I'm not doing anything remotely extreme; I don't get "big air".

Ive been using 2 pairs of Shimano fishing glasses for the last 3 years,look great,fit excellently and cost £25 each.I use the Aernos and Speedmaster.Cant figure out why people spend £150 on glasses.

As a short sighted, spectacle wearer I endured riding with glasses on for a long time before moving to contact lenses.

I always knew riding with glasses on was a complete pita but now that I've experienced riding sans glasses, I have absolutely no idea why someone that doesn't need glasses to see would go out and spend money on a layer of heavy optically distorting plastic to sit in front of their eyes getting covered in sweat, mud and cow $hit and steaming up on the climbs.

Yes, I occasionally get mud in my eyes but given I can deal with that without really being able to rub or wipe my eyes very much incase I disturb my lenses, I still consider no eyewear the way WAY better option.

Having seen the results of racing in poor weather/bad roads/offroad on both mine and others eyes, i'll stick with putting something in front of the rather fragile lumps of jelly that are my windows to the world.

I ALWAYS wear protection on my eyes when cycling. Why leave yourself open to risk without them?
Road crap/spray/mud/dust/flies/midges and all manner of stuff in the air.
