Girvins - Anything I need to know?

Well, my NOS Girvin Vector 2s have arrived, ready to be fitted on to my Zaskar

I'm going to be swapping the linkages over to some nice anodised blue ones. Do I need to Loctite all the bolts back up when I put them back together?

Reason I'm asking is I seem to remember a set of Quasar Linx forks I once owned, and remember the fact that the V Brakes regularly used to loosen the bolts holding the fork legs together!

Any Girvin owners care to offer some advice? Thanks

Theres nothing to be wary of. Even though they are nos, l would remove the pivot pins (usually held in with a roll pin half way along the length of the pivot) & clean the old grease off, re lube them & reassemble, making sure the plastic shims & O rings are in place, with or without loctite, mine have never needed it.

A small amount of blue locktite is recomended especialy with vectors as there are a lot of separate parts to each link. However, before you tighten everything up the is a process to follow to align the legs and links. You must also set the rake/trail of the fork by turning the horizontal pins in the top and bottom link. You can set the fork for stability or quick turning.
Best thing is to pop over to the iriders site and read the How To on vector service/rebuild. It's all there including the original factory manuals.
But most of all they are a very cool fork!

They're definitely a cool fork. I know they may not suit Zaskars so to speak, but then neither do my Crossmax wheels or my Thomson Stem/Seatpost

Im happy with girvins anywhere as its is indeed a hugely cool looking fork and theres been lots of examples on here where theyve been used to great aesthetic value
