I'm trying to remember where I saw the article and when I do I will post it
From what I remember most of those types of frames would have been ali lugs with the carbon tubes being slipped and glued onto the smaller stepped part of those lugs . this would have been similar for dynatech, vitus, alan, mtrax, giant etc
on points where extra rigidity was needed and the girvin forks are a good example, additional ali sleeves were inserted to allow fixings to hold and with a strength to serve purpose. Where sometimes things like this happen is they put the ali insert not on the whole part but just the part needed and sometimes the two become seperated
As to bending it..if they are shagged then you have nothing to lose but it's not something I would do myself but as you can see some have offers of advice and information
