It looks like the front "shock" is one of the elastomer ones, which are prone to deteriorating over time.
I think the better option would be to replace with another elastomer.
Try suspensionforkparts.net, they may have direct fit replacements.
There are Landrover bushes which can be used instead though, although I can't remember exactly which ones just now, but a good Search on here should bring up the result for you.

I've owned these forks before... you can ditch the elastomer/bushing setup and do not neccesarily have to go the coil spring route on them... there is an air sprung, oil dampened shock you can use which fits perfectly... the Risse Genesis Damper:

Its a really good shock for these forks, I never looked back after putting one on my carbon noleen x-links.

eBay is a good place to find them, if you need bushes made up contact TF tuned racing, they make any size to order.

affter much searching for parts for this build and the easy to find ones being the xt shifters the panaracer tyres, specialized body geometry seat, the red chainring bolts and the dmr v12 pedals, the harder to find were the x lite expert bars in blue and the x lite bar ends in red being new and harder to find, the nightmare was the the front elastomers so going down the route of finding a spring to fit and finaly finding a 750lb spring with the aid of the old elastomers as a temporary solution to making the spring fit snug, it actualy works quite well, im 17 stone and there was no bobbing and bouncing i thought may happen and the owner is 12 stone ish so i guess with the new shims to be made instead of the old elastomer shims this bike is going to ride real nice for him, added a couple of pics of the bike as it is now just requiring some new decals to finish.
