Retro Newbie
hi, anybody here who's got any infos / pictures /catalogues on early KETTLER- mtb's (safari, adventure, mountain lite etc.,1983-198:cool: ?

There weren't many in Britain. I remember one bike shop in Oxford sold them, but I can't think of any others. A shame really, they were in many respects ahead of their time.

Do you have one?

hi, infact i have two - one is called "safari adventure", the other one is called "lite mountain".
the first one was bought in 1983 (!), the other one is from roundabout 1986/88 becaues of the
Exage-Mountain U-brake in the baxk, both bikes have aluminium-frames and are actually from
great quality, I'll post some pics soon...

come on folks - nobody into KETTLER ALU RAD here ?
Ha! Growing up in Germany and being into bikes we used to make fun of ze KETTLER ALU RAD! I remember a buddy picking up my bike and saying it's kinda heavy, the reply was: you obviously never picked up a KETTLER ALU RAD! They weren't regarded as being cool or desirable, people wanted Rocky Mountains and Kleins not Kettlers... it's interesting to see that some people do appreciate them.

Re:

well, while scavenging the right retro mtb for me I came across my first KETTLER mtb already a few years ago, I'm seriously impressed about the quality those bikes are made and allways equipped with with top gear Shimano - my first was a 1984 "Adventure" equipped with Shimano (SIS, Exage Mountain, Biopace etc.), cantilever brakes, solid stems, Magura-bars and brake-levers, often with their own made rims and always with their own wonderful headset.

This first Adventure is now with a friend of mine, was replaced by a 1983 "Safari Adventure" and that 1987 (?) Lite Mountain.

They're all great fun and have a nice frame-geometry, just don't know how they would behave in extreme terrain - in fact I don't want to know - they look much nicer in front of the ice-cream place

...is there any interest here for more pics ?
