Hi, they are the first generation CrossMax. Absolutely no corrosion any where, they are in extremely good condition. I haven’t ridden them much since 1998, and definitely not wet often!

Thank you for the reply Dan, I will have a think about it. Am on a build at the moment and do have a wheel set here for it, though the CrossMax may be more suited - I will sleep on it

Mk1 Crossmax don’t really seem to suffer from corrosion.

Things to check are no cracks around eyelets as that’s very common.

And also no spokes are loose which spin when trying to true as they seize in the nipples.

I’ve had a few sets and took me about 4 attempts to get a good pair.

Did the rear drive side have any issues with spokes breaking?

Not that I’ve seen. It’s always been loose spokes on the ones I’ve had.
