Touching cloth ... need to go. Anyone in Yorkshire area willing to swap poo allocation time?

From the AEC guide for events written by Drystonepaul
So as a rule of thumb, avoid organising a ride to take place (for adjacent regions):

4 weeks either side of a National within a 100 mile radius.
2 weeks either side within a 200 mile radius
1 week either side for anywhere else.

I don't see a problem

And none on the day.

I really do not see there is an issue here with either a big I or little i.

Okay the rides are the same day but they appeal to a very different set of riders - usually dictated to by location.

I, myself, would like to attend the National Retrobike ride but its simply too far for me. Instead I will be riding this Local/Regional Retrobike ride.

If this Local/Regional Retrobike ride wasn't on I wouldn't be attending the National ride for the reason above.

No treading on toes here.

Mark - I'm in.

Did you want me to set this as a Sticky in the Anglia section?

If I don't go to either, am I allowed out on my bike?

I suppose I can publicise my ride afterwards on Pat's thread?

Love to all. Lots to love.

Only if you ride a modern bike! If it was a retro bike and their were more than 3 people attending on a day with the letter Y in it then you would have to let the Retro police know about it!!

And there are no 'rules' and never have been.

There are rules that Retrobike 'management' have implemented to keep Retrobike rides, and particularly national series rides well attended. These are found in the D/AECs area and all D/AECs are expected to follow them when organising rides.

No-one is trying to tell anyone where or when they can ride, but if you are using this site to organise a ride it is only proper to follow the site rules regarding rides. If you don't want to do that then of course you can ignore them. But you should really use some other place to publicise and organise it.

I still dont understand your total hostility and over reaction.

Some people put a lot of effort into organising rides, and follow the site rules. If it appears that other rides are detracting then that can be annoying. If you don't see that, fair enough, but Kaya is entitled to raise the issue as he did. It was done politely and any response should also be polite. ;)

I am neither a moderator nor am I an AEC, I am just an ordinary member of Retrobike, nothing more. Its still a complete over reaction when the date has been set for weeks and nobody sent a PM, raised in the thread itself or at any point since 12/04/15 or 'Posted: Sat Jan 31, 2015 10:10 am'. If someone had approached myself, I would have been happy to re-arrange to suit.

And, lets just be clear here, its a ******* bicycle ride - you are insinuating that I and anyone else who wants to organise a 'ride' will be making some sort of profit off the back RB 'using' the site and not elsewhere -this seems to go against the original purpose of the site - the 'permission to poo sir' jokes may actually ring true. Do we need the permission of an Area Event Coordinator to poo/ride a bicycle these days?

The whole toys out of the pram thing has not been done politely, it was done by spamming up other threads. Organising a ride was actively encouraged on the site, normally without anyone crying because it was on the same day as 'their' ride.

To be honest, I am now sick of the whole ******* thing and what grieves me more is the fact that Vern came down one year and rode with us. This site used to be fun, I dont know where or when the rod up the arse came in to to give those an excuse to decide otherwise.

Lets all calm down.

If you are able to and want to ride the national ride do that.

If you are able to and want to ride the Gates ride do that.

If you are able to do both ..... Chapeau!

If these two rides were in the same region then yes there may have been ground for a little toy throwing.

There not. Lets move it along people.

I am insinuating nothing of the sort. I don't know how you extrapolate that from what I have written. :?

I am just suggesting the site owners have made various rules for a reason, and site users should follow them. If you want to use the sales forum you need to post a price. If you want to host a ride you should check your dates don't clash.

It's not that hard, and if you have a problem with the site owners rules then I suggest you take that up with the site owner.
