Guys,
I found this bike abandoned and in the skip so, being a decent soul, I took it to a mate who needs 2 wheels. We want to restore her and need the following info - what diameter seatpost does it have and what size bottom bracket should we fit?
Thanks a million!

BTW If you can enlighten me as to what beast I have found, I'd be delighted. Cheers!

It's a hoo ke e koo (cant spell). It's on the top tube!

If you are taking the old bottom bracket out look at the markings on it or just measure it. It's a 68mm shell anyway, length depends on the cranks.

Same with the seatpost - should have a stamp on there to tell you the size. I think it will be 26.4 though but not 100%

Re:

To measure the seatpost just use some vernier calipers on the existing one , or take the bike to a bike shop or car garage and ask them nicely if you can use theirs .
You can use a tape measure across the bb shell to find out the size you need , but as coomber says , the length of the axle depends on what chainset is on it . Can't tell from photos if it's a normal bb or one held in with circlips . Good luck ;)

Re:

It's about a 94-5 model - catalogues are along the top in the "archive and gallery" section.

Fisher's are criminally underrated on here. I had a marlin, bottom of the ladder and it was a really nice riding bike. This will tidy up nicely with a bit of a clean and degrease.

Re:

From the style of graphics, I would say earlier, 1990-ish. It will probably have bottom bracket bearings held in with circlips, which are easy to change and cheap. Just do some searches on here, I'm sure there is a guide for it somewhere. Nice bike, old Fishers are great.

miles out on my guess of the year..

it is a great find though. well worth giving it some attention.

It's an evolution BB by the way, not a normal threaded type.
88mm shell, pressed in bearings retained by circlips, you'll have to reuse the square taper axle.
It's a great bit of kit.
