"Future" retro

This has probably been done before, but which of todays current bikes will the future retro classics, the Yeti Ultimates / Yo Eddys / Hots etc of tomorrows retro mountain biker? As we ride our dwindling stocks of 80s and 90s NOS components into the ground, what parts are worth stockpiling from today that will have 2025s retro bikers drooling?

I suppose it would be tempting to go for steel hardtails - IFs, maybe Cotic / OnOne for the Brits... but I figure to do so would be just to look at modern bikes with rose tinted retro spectacles.

I'll open the bidding with an Ibis Mojo, a SC Nomad.... and of course the modern equivalent of Ringle and Syncros rolled into one (but better than both), Thompson.

Any thoughts? (Obviously Chris King goes without saying)

Why?? It's just a head set with a big price tag and ano in bright colours.
What has Chris King done that make it stand out? Did they invent A-Head?

This like buying VW or a Skoda both the same just one is more money

VW and Skoda ARE NOT the same, Skodas are more reliable....

Future retro

CK goes without saying because it has been the one staple since the dawn of proper mountain biking. Their range of products may have increased but the standard headset has remained pretty much unaltered in over 30 years. It's still regarded as the best today, and I expect that plenty of the CK headsets that are being run today will still be getting use in 15 years. Name me another component that is not only still being used 30 years after its invention, but that is still regarded as the most desireable item in its chosen arena.

Say Chris King to anyone who is into bikes, be they mountain or road, modern or retro and it carries exactly the same kudos.

For further proof, it'd be quicker to count the number of BOTMs or even readers bikes that do NOT have CK headset than do.

chains

cassettes

Mechs

Shifters

Wheels

Frames

Tires

All highly desirable on a bicycle

everythings been done already two or three times over - there isnt anything now that would stand out and make whoopee with world

Obviously not the same design of chain / cassette / frame etc though, which is my point.

As far as I know, CK came up with the first sealed bearing headset (in 1976 according to their website). That's fairly good for starters.

future retro

Really?

Mass production tubeless tires, 7 inch carbon frames, 5 inch 23lb carbon bikes etc. On their second or third outing?
