Hardtail.

I've got two hardtails and a rigid, (and a Proflex in the process) and I'd choose one of the hardtails as an all rounder any day. As much as I'd love to, I've never found a full sus bike that I've not fallen out of love with after a short time.

.................Maybe the Proflex will be different?, Ask me again when it's finished! ;) :D

I had a Marin Mount Vision that was just right as a full susser , fantastic ride - everything after that was kack.

Got my frigid rigid Zaskar to play with now - dont even like front suspension anymore

my cannondale EST !
Rigid front, and rear suspension   !

I love all the bike. There's no comparison between an hartail, front suspension or a full suspension. You don't go on the same tracks with them, and each feelings are so different ! It's like make a comparison betwen a titanium and aluminium frame.

Actually, I love my klein attitude :D. So : hardtail. But this week end, I'll go riding in the Pyrénées. So, It will be my titanium frame with front suspension fork ;)

Ive got 2 modern bikes, 1 a s-works epic with 90 mm of travel at the rear
and its 24 lbs in weight and extremely quick ;) There was a time when i wouldn't ride anything else, until i got a ti hardtail, now the epic hasn't been used since the cheddar bike fest in September  The hardtail is just so much quicker :D
My rigid retro bikes just haven't been ridden, except the kona :!:
I will however be riding a retro muddyfox at Afan this weekend, that has at least 20mm of travel at the front. Im also going to be building a M2 stumpy soon, with a view to using alot :D
The epic will only get used now on trips to Wales and alike

I like my cannondale super v as a good do all bike with a bit of comfort.
I have hardtails that I use to race as well as an rts (all be it in bits).
During the winter a full rigid set up is best for me though, less to clean too.

I think its a case of "horses for courses".

As long as it makes you smile, who cares if it bounces or not?!

My hardtail with a suspension seatpost, a semi-full suss maybe?? Got a full suss but for long climbs and tight singletrack I prefer the HT. I used to have a Kona Stab, which was fun  A pig to ride for XC but as it was a full on DH bike it's hardly suprising

A non-suprising result so far.
Even though the trend for modern bikes is going towards full-suspension, hardcore serious cyclists prefer a rigid back end.

Thats a bit of a sweeping statement! :D I know qiute a few "hardcore" bikers and some would not touch a hardtail with a bargepole, others don't like full suspension. Its all just personal preference at the end of the day.

For me I HATED full sussers with a passion until I got a good modern one and its truly superb, the fox rp23 propedal shock and horst link back end rides awesome. Never going back (I think)

Quite agree.

"Hardcore" riders prefer whatever bike allows them to ride faster and harder, which for me is a decent lightweight mid travel full sus., but as stated earlier sometimes I prefer full rigid singlespeed for more of a challenge.
Which is more hardcore? A 24 hour enduro on full sus or a 2 hour blast on hardtail/rigid?
