Hi folks,
OK, I'm trying to tidy up my 1990 Pine Mountain, which is likely to entail a stripdown and respray (no idea yet how I'm going to tackle the zolatone, but plenty of ideas here on RetroBike)... but the most pressing thing however is I need to replace the entire groupset.
The shifters went fairly early on and were replaced with something quite different from the original DX shifters. Everything else, though, is original and very worn out!
I see from searching places like RetroBike and eBay, that from time to time a rear cage or original brakes/shifters come up for sale in used condition, but is there a brand new set (preferably XT level) that anyone produces, including chainwheels, rear cassette, brakes, shifters cables etc that would fit my bike and not look too far departed from the original?
I'm not too worried about restoring it to its precise original spec, although I may still try to source the original shifters, rear derailleur and brakes, over time.
Any guidance or advice would be very much appreciated.
Cheers,.
Lee.
