O.K my last post on the subject,
I knew what size it was i.e just big enough, when I found one a better size I bought it.
With postage,e-bay fees and paypal fees I "made" £11.
Making a profit wasn't the intention, funding a slightly bigger frame was.
atb's response has assuaged any guilt I felt about not offering it back on here.

You already charged extra for postage (£20.00) which would have cost you around a tenner since you quoted "economy" in your auction.

If making profit wasn't your intention why not put it back on here for the price you bought it for?

It appears your actions tell a different story i.e. see if you can make some money.

Assuaged guilt? That bit did make me laugh.

I wish these would have been your thoughts regarding the forum before you bought it, then maybe someone who actually wanted it may have had the chance of owing it.
I offered you £200 after you bought it on here, you declined.
I offered you £250 when it was on Ebay, you declined. I only wish I hadn't deleted your Ebay listing too early.

It's pretty obvious to everyone what your intentions were from the outset. Especially learning that you declined an offer for £200, then £250. You were clearly out to gain as much as you could. Only because of an absolutely appalling listing on eBay did it fetch so comparatively little. Lying in the instance with that whole story was bad enough, continually lying just insults people's intelligence further. Even still;

It's just a real shame for a member on here who genuinely wanted it.

I don't understand people's beef. So TMCS bought the Speedwell and passed it on (6 months down the line too) The fact he made a tiny amount more than he paid is really no BIG DEAL!
What anyone does with their chattels is their business, if anyone wanted it then a reasonable bid would have secured it?
Jeez

You've missed the point.
He got it and said he was keeping it. Then it gets flagged up that he sold it. He then turns the lie machine up to 11. I never said anything about people making a few quid. I just can't stand the lies and deceit.

Yes Tony, of course you can do what you want with your own stuff (insert rolling eyes here). But people that buy just to sell at a higher price - 'flipping' if you like - grate on me - and others. It irks me that the parasitic leaches are buying gear on here simply to make a profit rather than enjoying the retro experience. In fact it can push prices higher in certain cases as supply struggles to match demand.

If this bike wasn't suitable for him why didn't he put it back on here to sell? He'd have at least given a fellow retrobiker the chance of owning it. Instead he sought a bigger market to try and make a killing 'flipping' it and as atb points out due to a crap description etc it didn't make as much as he'd hoped.

A tricky and often touchy subject and one in which both sides have a point, at least to a certain extent - I've sold something on here only to see it readvertised at a mark up, using my photos and before the buyer had even received it. Not sure that this case is as clear cut as some would have it though - surely a blatant and shameless profiteer would not have waited 6 months before cashing in and buying their yacht?

Anyway, think this has run it's course here, suggest if anyone wants to discuss the issues in general then might be as well to start a separate thread.
