ROTRAX SUPERCOURSE ROAD FRAME 1951 Cool lugs and details

Rear dropout width: 120mm
Wheel size: 27in/sprints/700C
Brake drop with sprints/700C: 65mm
Rotrax from Southampton built some really nice frames in the early 1950s - this one, a Supercourse model features gorgeous hand cut lugs and lovely details - just take a look at the rear brake bridge and the pump pegs... The frame itself is very sound though it has had its gear hanger cut off - this could easily be replaced... And it will restore to very beautiful and distinctive frame. This stunning looking frame was Laurent Roux’s TT frame for his 1995 season at Castorama. This frame is absolutely gorgeous despite a few scratches to the paint and is very, very special. With vertical dropouts it is not ideal for singlespeed/fixed use unless you manage to get a magic chain length. £195

This is a rather nice NOS MBK frame from the early 1990s built from Vitus tubing which is ovalised at the bottom bracket. The top tube takes the rear brake cable in a slot along the length of the top tube's underside – very neat and cool. The semi-vertical dropouts should mean that a fixed or single-speed conversion should not be too difficult. £89

Peugeot made very nice budget road frames in the 1970s/80s - this one has very good paint. The rear dropout width and horizontal dropouts make it an ideal candidate for a budget conversion to fixed or singlespeed. £29
COUGAR TT LO-PRO FRAME built for Chris Boardman c1991

Wheel size: 700C rear, 650C (26in) front

This stunning frame finished in a black with a speckle was built by Cougar Cycles for Chris Boardman to attack several short distance time trial records c1991 before he turned professional. The fairings are not structural - they are probably fibre-glass! In one or two places there are cracks between the tubes and the fairings but nothing at all significant. This frame could be ridden with a suitable length seatpost riders of between about 5ft 6in and 6ft tall - the top top tube length is the important dimension... The vertical dropouts mean that it is not especially suitable for singlespeed or fixed use unless you manage a magic chain length. £195
CANNONDALE 2.8 ROAD FRAME

Cannondale’s 2.8 series of road frames were very highly regarded in the early 90s - Cannondale had been one of the pioneers of of using oversize aluminium tubing to build light stiff frames in the 80s and with the 2.8 series took it a step further - the 2.8 name referred to the weight in pounds of the bare frame frame. This frame is in in very nice condition it has a couple of very tiny dings neither of which can be easily found and the paint is in excellent condition. £175
MERCKX ROAD FRAME 1970s

Mercks road frames from the early 1970s are very rare in this country. Merckx licensed the use of his name to different builders in countries across Europe - in England inexplicably it was Falcon but in Belgium it was Kessels. This frame sourced from Germany was probably built by Kessels. Its obviously a quality frame with drilled lugs and heavily slotted BB shell. The frame weight is about 2kg and it takes a 27.0mm seatpost so is built from good quality tubing. The long Campy dropouts suggest it is from the first half of the 1970s. Its ideal for a singlespeed or fixed conversion with its long horizontal dropouts. £225
