If you've never heard of these you're not alone. Wingnut shaped shift levers you fit alongside drop bar brake levers. Predate road STIs so were invented as an alternative to downtube or stem mounted shifters. This set is for six speed block, but has friction mode too to suit any setup. Left hand is friction/ratchet only with enough cable pull for up to a quadruple. Perfect for roadie/tourer restoration project. Never fitted to a bike, I would say new in box, but most of the box has disintegrated. No cables or bolts either I'm afraid, lost over time.

Found this by googling, on flickr, thanks to steel_is _real

Yes, there's tons of pull, though it is still a bit ratchety in action. Looking at the construction, the ratchet action could probably be taken out, making them smooth across the throw, there is a small circlip to lift out to get to the gubbins, but I haven't done so as they are unused and I'd hate to ruin them due to fridgesuck or not being able to get them back together.
