FS: Kona Explosif 1992 18 inch Tange Prestige in Worthing

Hi guys,

Explosif from 1992, black, 18 inch, tange prestige tubing. The frame has marks but no gauges or dents, in fact other than a small amount of paint rubbed away on the inside of each chain stay and a few very small chips from chain derailment I'd say it was pretty good for it's years and with a small amount of touch up it wouldn't need a respray. Sure, the clear coat is peeling in places (ok, in many places ) from the lovely sparkle black paint job (very shiny still all over) and the Tange Prestige sticker has seen better days but it just adds to the patina of a twenty two year old frame!

No rust, no bubbling of paint, this is a dry frame and it's just the frame, no forks or headset etc.

This is something I'd prefer the buyer to inspect, cash on collection in Worthing Sussex, don't have the facilities or inclination to post I'm afaid, cup of tea for visitors though..

Had a couple of enquirys on it Mike and on both occasions I got a sinking feeling, as if I was doing the wrong thing selling it.

The reason I wanted to sell it was I figured the bike I should build should have disc brakes, now I'm thinking why not put disc brakes on the explosif frame? Will this be an abomination? Will I get lynched? Who will weld the bits on or even provide the parts?

I want both vintage and new in one, will it be a dogs dinner I'm thinking.

As a matter of fact , there is already one with discs , in Brighton area . Not for sale , but th e owner came out on a group ride a while back on it .

Try Chickens Emporium . Local ( Rottingdean ) frame builder .
