Old School Hero
I bought this off PJ a while ago, due to a new arrival I need to clear some space out to make room. It is a beautiful bike to ride and deserves a good home.
Built somewhere between 1950 and 56 - the seat stays changed in 57 and apparently they started putting the frame numbers on the rear drop outs sometime around 1950. The frame is built from Reynolds 531 with pencil seat stays it has a 22" seat tube and a 22" top tube. Originally built as a path/grass track frame it has mud guard eyelets and rides very smoothly.
Two minor modifications have been made to the frame, both by Argos cycles in Bristol, the lawyers on the fork have been altered to enable the use of a 10mm axle and the rear has been 'sprung' to make the use of a 120mm OLD axles easier - it was a smidge on the tight side when I got it and I suspected it was stressing the brake bridge on the chain stays.
Paintwork is in good condition, couple of small chips, one to the forks and another on the drive side seat stay, small amount of wheel rub on the chain stay, there is no rust and there appears to be no pitting anywhere on the frame. It has not been ridden in the rain by me and is dry stored.
I will be putting this on ebay soon but thought I would try here first.
