I became curious about the ad featured among your pictures. It states three versions of the Attitude in 1990:
1: Complete XT
2. Team issue(Campagnolo)
3 Super light.

Does any one know the specs of the Super light version? Was it with the Suntour XC line? I have heard about the light version of the Adroit, but never the Attitude.

Given the 2 pound weight difference that Klein mentions in the catalog, I'd assume so. The Suntour XC components were about a pound lighter than XTR (which wasn't available yet) and XTR was about a pound lighter than the m735 XT. However, Klein also mentions a couple of options in the catalog including "machining, chainring 24, 26, 28 and 30t, and hardware" which suggests that this option would be focused on making the bike lighter, though they don't go into specifics on which hardware was actually machined. I don't think though that the machining option was part of the Super Light spec. Why?

The Klein catalog scan on RB has some notes about pricing next to each Attitude version:

XT = 10,896
Team Issue = 10,669
Super Light = 9,761

All prices appear to be in Deutsch Marks. Since the machining is listed as an option, and presumably involves extra labor, it doesn't make sense that the Super Light would include it AND be priced cheaper than the XT and Team Issue. Since Suntour was generally priced less than the equivalent Shimano groupo, and XC was the lightest groupo fitted in later years to the Adroit, my guess is that the 1990 Super Light Attitude was spec'ed with Suntour XC as you indicated. If anyone else knows for sure, I'd like to hear. Thanks.

Thank you! You learn something each day. But are you sure about the prices? The ad in your photo says:
XT: 1825 USD
Team Issue: 2195 USD
Super-light: 2500 USD

So the SL version was quite a bit more expensive.

Clue is in the fact I sold it after 6mths ;) Lovely to behold and great handling but too much of a boneshaker for me. Premium steel and Ti all day everyday

Iirc the Dolomite superlite was the one that first appeared at a bike show on a set of weighing scales in 1990 ? Was it 18.5lbs or summink ? Mostly Suntour iirc as that was the lightest gear around at the time.

Ah, didn't look at that - better to use that than the German prices which were hand written. My theory above makes a little more sense to me now. Using the $2500 vs $2195, I'd guess that the Super Light is a hand machined version of the Attitude fitted with XC and perhaps the IRD seat post which is also listed as an option in the '90 catalog (and is also 1 ounce lighter than stock). The mysterious hand machining of hardware and sprockets could account for the large price variation - it also makes me wonder if the hand machining might have included drilling out the rear dropouts which later appeared on the Adroit? I can't say because, like you, I've never seen a Super Light Attitude in the wild.

Yes I am quite surprised that I have never seen one. Would be really nice to see the exact spec. Sorry for hijacking your sales thread, that is one great looking Dolomite. Again, GLWS :D

SOLD - pending payment.

Will be disappointing to let this go but I'm sure the next owner will get a lot of enjoyment out of it.
