FS: 1989 Specialized Rockhopper F+F

Feel a little odd doing this, but here we go.

Selling my first 'proper' MTB frame and fork that I bought as a nipper from Colchester Cycle Stores back in 1990 (I sold my Raleigh Mustang to fund it).

It's a 1989 Specialized Rockhopper with DirectDrive fork. It comes with the original Tange headset (serviced once in the seven years I had it as my only bike, and only once since - it's knackered!), Shimano UN72 bottom bracket (still smooth as silk) and original seat clamp.

It's had quite a life as an only mountain bike, a race bike and a commuter hack in various cities, and unfortunately the paintwork shows this. However everything is straight and solid - I certainly have no reason to believe otherwise.

Only selling because I need garage space and, if I'm honest, I will never restore it as I keep promising myself. If someone out there wants this as a project I'd love to see it go to a good home and would also love to be kept informed of any project using it.

I still have other various bits and pieces off it, including a Mountain LX chainset with Specialized rings. They will slowly creep on here, or email me if you want to discuss further.

Pics are here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/pimpmaste ... 242881818/ If you want more, please get in touch.

I'm after £30 picked up or £40 posted; I'm based on the Isle of Wight but head into Slough once a week. The negotiation channel is open and here: pimpmasterjazz AT yahoo DOT com.

I should add - this was the same frame as the basic Stumpjumper of that year (the top two models being made out of Tange CroMo - viewtopic.php?t=158094). It does mean that it's ripe for a genuine Stumpjumper refurb if the Rockhopper isn't doing it for you.
