Front mounted child seat on a Girving flex stem?

Anyone tried it?

Not that i'm super fond of that stem but it does not bother me.
If it does not work I will to source a 150mm reach 22.2 quill stem that can run cantos… and this time of year i'd rather be out riding than trawling the net for such a thing.

kids seats are much better on the rear, believe me I ride all sort of bikes with all sorts of loads and ALWAYS put the load behind the seat post, geometry is better and personally I've never understood people putting their kids at the front of any bike, in the bike shop I always heard '' but I can keep an eye on them there'' my stock reply was/is '' using the same argument would you strap your kids to the bonnet of your car? and the front of the bike IS THE FIRST thing that enters any junction or hazard" My daughter always in the back and i have a Yepp kids seat the best there is and god forbid there is a accident I'm well placed to provide protection.

I have a Hamax Siesta, my nipper is 18mts old and she loves it - I'm going to try her at Glentress shortly only bad thing about having her behind is that she tends to push into my back to get me to go faster.... I did look at front mounting but was concerned about her hitting the deck first.... at least behind I should cushion the blow a touch

Re:

Front child seats only really belong on Dutch style bikes that have such raked out forks and slack angles that its practically impossible to go over the bars. Add a set of bars that come right round to the riders knees and you have a built in roll cage. For a small tot I would not use anything else.
Put such a seat on a mountain bike and it really doesn't work, everything is in the wrong place. In addition you should generally only use a front seat in conjunction with a steel handlebar stem. I would imagine that a flex stem could end in a terrible disaster, personally i would rather walk than mount it to such a stem.
Done correctly and ridden in the right surroundings a front seat is absolutely fantastic. When my little one grew out of his front seat and had to go on the back he absolutely hated it, I didn't care for it much either.

Re:

What sort of age can you start kids on the semi-enclosed seat (eg Hamax)? They appeal to me but not sure when to start.
