Front mech shimming

Doh! Just discovered that my frame needs a teeny tiny front mech clamp, as opposed to the 31.8 I had assumed. I hope to run an sram x9/x0 front (9 speed) so what would be a suitable source for an appropriate shim, or are there other options.

I think I might have a shimano shim, but not sure it will be the right size. Are Sram ones available (not come across one in my googling yet), and other options seem a touch expensive for what they are (a cut but of plastic).

Cheers

What i did was cut down a steerer shim to the right width and then shaped it around an old tube to fit before cutting it in half. lovely and you can't see it at all.

Thanks for that, worth a go. I read some people use rubber rather than metal, is this a good idea?

exactly but shape it to right dia by sliding over a tube and beating it a little. Then cut it in two

Re:

I can cut you a 31.8 OD to 28.6 ID shim if that's what you're after, Ian.
It's standard 0.058" wall tube stuff...

All the best,
