Front derailleur replacement

Retro Newbie
Hey!
I just bought a new Shimano M313 front derailleur for my old Cannondale and saw that it has a piece of plastic blocking the spring.
I think Shimano refers to it as "pro-set alignment block".
I saw on the Shimano manual that I need to remove it but I couldn't find anywhere an explanation about how to do that.
It seems pretty fragile and I'm scared that if I try to pull or wiggle the plastic rod that's sticking out it might break and then it'll be really hard to remove the inside part.
How is it supposed to be done?

Thanks!

Like above, you can hold the body/clamp and pull the plates and it will fall out. Or if you mount the mech then pull the plates out you can just slide the part out. The spring tension is whats holding it in.
