French vintage ride - May 2016

Hi,

Have just come across this weekend ride / show for retro bikes - its within a bike ride of St Malo - with easy ferry links.

Tour de Rance Randonee Vintage - its only an hour or so from me so will probably give it a go.

Apparantly there were 300 riders last year, which was its second year - this year looks to be bigger.
The route hasn't been pulicised yet - but last year it was split into 3 stages.

They also have some nice cars there including some ex caravan promotional vehicles.

I think Bernard Hinault and Bernard Thevenet were riding too! Looks like a great event.

Hmmmmm,

Interesting, pondering possibilities / logistics etc

Hi Chris / Mike,

I will probably camp for the weekend - I'm happy to organise something - if you're interested?

Dinan is a great place to visit in itself and there are a good number of sites around - saying that there might even be camping specifically for the event - I'll do a bit of research.

Cheers, Dave

Thanks for posting this, a pal of mine did it last year and we were thinking of doing this instead for the Anjou. The same pal has already booked the ferry from Portsmouth and as I'm based on the West Sussex coast so there's little excuse not too.

We will probably have a spare seat and bike space if there's interest*.

Re:

Hi,

Online inscription opens 1st March 'til 8th May - unlike last year which had a limit of 300 - this year there is no limit.

Apart from Bernard Hinault there will also be Joop Zoetemelk too - get out your Raleigh TI's!!

The municipal campsite is 300m from the start - however, it doesn't open 'til 1st June!! Although it is available for camper vans.

I've put in a cheeky request to have it open for the tour weekend - you never know!

Cheers, Dave
