freehub funny clicky question

So I recently got me a fairly tidy looking hope BULB rear hub, and I can't decide if the freewheel mechanism is quite right.
Forgive the rather basic descriptions but...

Im used to a nice clicky sound, nice and consistent: Click click click click click click

However this one seeems to go: Click cl-click cl-click cl-click cl-click

It feels like the first little click doesnt engage as the freehub body can move back and forth still, my concern is that this might be a sign of wonky internals. I'm not sure but it sounds like its only part of the way around the rotation that it does this which is also weird to me.

Any ideas other than rip it open and take a look?

I stripped my Hope Pro II rear hub recently as per the diagram above. Was a piece of cake and works better now after a good greasing.
They certainly sound different to shimano freewheels (louder for sure) so as long as it's good inside don't worry.
