Fox Talas Forks

Anyone here have technical knowledge of the 2005/6/7 Fox Talas II suspension forks?
This is now an obsolete (in Fox terminology) item meaning that nothing appears in their web archives. Likewise the local commercial suspension specialists.

My problem: During use air is being sucked into the oil. I can hear bubbling when compressing the fork by hand.
1) Is this air likely to be in the outer (lower) or inner (Talas cartridge) leg?
2) Is their an easy DIY way to check which?

In fact any advice (other than binning the whole thing), links to technical info, or manufacturer's documentation on these forks is very welcome.

Are you sure thats the problem, or even an issue, as it is normal to hear a squelching noise of the oil going through the different gates etc.

If air was escaping the fork would depressurize :? if it hasn't then maybe its just the normal noise.

Ive serviced my Talas 2 a good few times ..
You can use Fox kit 32 Talas 3 service kit

Would recommend changing all the o rings and seals on air/ travel side ,
Is rebound adjuster working ...
Interesting forks to work on and service
Not like the easy F-series ..

I have about 2007 vintage Float 32 Talas that I've bought used.
I've serviced them and I do like how they feel and will keep these ones. They are a decent fork and not hard to work on. Mine we well used but still pretty clean on the inside and being an open oil bath from that era then they aren't that hard to service.

I think best to give it full service first up since it is going to pretty hard to know exactly what is going on inside. Ultimately, you are taking a good guess. If it mostly works then you might have an o-ring that is marginal when you are riding or something similar that needs replacing.

The damper on the drive side has about 160ml of fox fluid and 10ml on the spring side. Odds are on that it is dampener squelch when you are out riding. Mine only make any air 'pssssffttttt' noise after a bigger hit.

There isn't too much details out there on these earlier Fox forks and I've added all the useful links I've found. I also have the 2008 and 2009 Fox manuals in pdf that I can send to you - DM if you need.
