Recent Whytes are four bar. Design has really come into it's own as shock technology and computer modelling has advanced. My first full sus was a 1997 GT STS 2. Really plush suspension action, but bobbed like a rowing boat in a tsunami when pedalling, even seated. My current Whyte still has the same plush feeling but pedals so much better. 1x drivetrains have also helped, as the suspension can be optimised to work for a single chain position relative to the pivots. On my STS the amount of pedal induced bob is noticeably worse in the granny compared to the middle ring.
