Found thank you

My 11 year old is now tall enough for the 19 inch 653 frame that I bought just after he was born - nothing like forward planning!

It is built up with 52/42 front rings and a 13 - 32 cassette. If he stays on the small ring then it works ok but ideally I'd like to change to a compact or triple set up?

Does anyone have something like a basic compact Shimano groupset eg Claris or lower grade Campag triple that they would like to move on?

Preferrably with 170 cranks and a braze on front mech. Drivetrain and shifters are key I can reuse the current brake calipers.

Many thanks in advance.

Tim

Re:

Hello
I have a Claris group with fsa 172.5 c/set and "black" brake calipers. I think there might be a rear wheel and a set of tyres too. £80 if I can tempt you. Due to the shape of the crank arms they could easily be shortened and re tapped to about 165mm if you can find somebody with a pillar drill

Re: Road groupset triple or compact for youngster

Try Spa Cycles, they do brilliant cranks in 155,160 and 165 for around £25, £35 with rings. Bought three sets over the years for my sons.

Re:

Miche do the 'Young' crankset that is specifically designed for junior cyclists.
I think the longest crank arm option is 165.

Bedraggled, many thanks, I have bought a complete group for £109.99 which seems like a good deal to me.
