Formula brake hose compatibility

Ah, I'm used to hope brakes so assumed the fittings I have already could simply be swapped over to the new hose. Is this not the case with formula fittings?
 
I used to run Formula calipers with Hope C2 levers and just adjusted everything to suit. I also ran the same levers with Grimeca twin pots and their XT version (1st gen XT twin pots are from Grimeca). An afternoon spent with olives and fittings and tea.

No. Crimped fittings are done at the factory with correct tooling and likely to be tested. They are also lighter.

The self assembley ones are more expensive, heavier and rely on the home mechanics ability to assemble correctly which isnt always the case.
