Fork bungs for carbon steerers?

I'm in need of a clue of these but there seem to be a lot out there. Which would be considered good value and also good quality?

I always get one with some good support for the clamping area. You can always put a fancy top cap on :D

No need to have a good quality one, an FSA will do the job, set correctly the gap then take the bung away, and spare 30/50g on your bike :cool:
 
I would say the one picturerd is an overkill, a smaller, lighter and probanly cheaper one will do. I have one that is separate segments held together by o ring, different design but serves same purpose.

The bung is there to set the preload on the headset bearing, doing up the stem bolts is what keeps it all in place.

I use a steel bolt to set preload, tighten the stem bolts, then replace by alloy bolt.
 
The reason the carbon ones are longer is to spread the force of the clamping over a larger area and avoid damage to the steerer but I agree, some do look overkill.
