Hi
I've shown this bike on RetroBike before (see viewtopic.php?f=23&t=308339 ) but have since spent a bit of time/money doing some work to it. Anyway, its just been sitting against the wall in my office for the past year so I've decided I'd like to sell it.
Specification:
56cm frame
26" tyres
4 speed rear cassette with Simplex mech.
Unusual gear lever on top tube
Funky French mudguards and chain guard
The dynamo is still in place, but the electrics do not work.
Finally, important to note that there's a 'ding' in the front wheel rim. I could have replaced with modern alloy wheels but preferred to stick with the original steel ones and accept the impact this has on braking.
It rides okay, but feels a bit delicate so I would recommend a viewing if anyone's interested.
My LBS sorted out the wheel bearings and gave the bottom bracket a service; and have replaced the cables, brake block and bar tape. I also bought a suitable saddle. The saddle-bag isn't included (but it's only a cheap one from Planet X so no big deal I'm sure).
Originally, I thought it dated from the 40s/50 but apparently they continued to be produced into the 60s, so this later decade might be a more realistic date for this example considering the plastic front light.
I spent about £120 in total (between the bike shop and saddle), so as you can see, I'm really just looking to cut my losses and start thinking about the next project.
