Hi guys,
So the time has come to part company with this beaut of a bike...It has always been my dream bike from back in the day, and the building and completion of this bike was one of the most satisfying things I have done. We have shared a few miles, including laps at Mayhem. But it is just too small and is knackering my back! (That could be more down to my age too!) I was going to just sell the frame but another bike opportunity has come up and it means that I need to pass on the Team as a complete bike to hopefully recoup some of the money invested. It has taken me around £750 to get it to the point it is today. I don't expect to make that money back. But hopefully someone else will appreciate the time and effort and spec/condition/rarity of this bike and take on the new ownership. To note this is a Marin 17.5" frame and that measurement is from the center of BB to center top tube. From center BB to top of seat tube is 19", the top tube length is 22.5". I would say it would fit someone 5ft 8 to 6ft 1. At nearly 6ft 4 myself I have been riding it but its a bit too arse up hands down for me!
Spec list below:
- 1991 Marin Team Zolatone frame, steel prestige tubes and fat tange forks. Some minor marks see pics but all decals in near mint condtion.
- Marin stem and bars with some light marks from a light bracket (the black residue on the bars may well come of with a bit of work), and a scuff in the stem.
- Wheelset Shimano M730/2 hubs with Mavic M231 CD grey/black rims virtually new when built smooth and true with XT QR skewers
- Panaracer Smoke 2.1" tan wall tyres. New when built bearly worn in.
- Rare Black armed Shimano XT M730 chainset new when built at a cost of £115! New BB fitted at the same time.
- Black Shimano M734 Canti brakes in very good condition.
- Shimano XT M735 front and rear mechs in very good condition.
- Shimano XT ST M091 STI gear and brake levers some light marks on the brake levers.
- Shimano XT M735 pedals some cosmetic marks but running super smooth.
- Shimano XT headset smooth.
- Shimano 7 speed cassette 11-28 good condtion.
- Shimano XT seat post clamp new when built.
- Shimano XT shark fin.
- Ritchey Hex foam grips.
- Marin Strong original seat post in good condition
- Marin Titanium seat (1992/3) with some marks see pic.
- Will include some genuine and repro spare decals.
I strongly recommend viewing and a test ride if you can, but if that is not possible I can provide the full res pics so you can have a better look just PM me. I will post but it will have to be fully insured and I would rather collection really.
So what do I think its worth? That's a subjective thing I guess but if I were looking for this bike and found a 19" in this condition I would pay what I am asking. That's the point of reference I have. I have said it cost me over £750 to get it looking like this, so based on the above I am looking for £550. Can post as I have said, even outside of the UK but the shipping costs would be charged as the actual cost.
PM me with any questions/deals/offers.
All the best.
Doug
