Fondriest with Reynolds 753?!

Hi all,

I have a chance to buy a very nice Fondriest frameset - looking at the photos there is definately a Reynolds 753 sticker on the seat tube, however, there's also a Columbus sticker on the forks!

Anyone know if Fondriest ever produced frames in 753? I've done the usual searches but come up with nothing.

Cheers

Re: fondriest

He started doing frames towards end of career most def after his world's win,753 was super rare by then anyway I only remember his frames being Columbus steel{a few}and lots of alloy ones some of which were Columbus alloy

I have two Fondriest steel frames, both badged Columbus SLX New and with 130mm rear spacing. He won the World Championship in 1988 at the early age of 23 and did not retire from the profession until 1998 when he founded the Fondriest brand concentrating mainly on bespoke carbon fibre frames. Having said that I wrote to the current Fondriest company 3 years ago about one of my frames and they gave a date of 1992 - 1995 so possibly frames were produced under his name (Viner I have seen suggested) while he was still actively racing.
Regret I do not know anything about the 753 connection but they are delightful and beautifully finished frames and worth purchasing if sensibly priced. Is it decaled "Over X" ?

99% is not a possible option. Columbus Fondriests or Dedacciai Fondriests are the norm.

Re:

Hi,

Thanks for input - I'm not going to take a chance on the frame - too many discrepancies, things don't quite add up.

Re:

Wise decision. I've never heard of a Reynolds Fondriest frameset either
