Funnily enough I also have a Mezzo and Twenty. The Twenty needs some TLC - this was what I used in Scotland when I did large hill days and need to leave a bike at one end of the route to get back to the car. The Mezzo is still used for pottering about and I like to take it on non cycle based holiday trips.

Actually my folding bike is a Dawes; just found a photo and will now after reading this thread will do the obligatory, get the bike out and pump the tyres up and get it back on the road!!
I think the mudguards are a bit rusty so might need some polish!

I like folders and would love to own one, but at my weight I'd need something pretty bulky anyway, which I feel would defeat the purpose of a folder, that is why I'm not getting one. Even most heavy duty steel folders seem to be aimed at 250 lbs and below.

Not sure about the wheels, since I built them, but I'm sure the rest of mine could manage your weight no problem:

I never found a 16” 1 3/8” tyre that had a bit more tread? On some cycle paths the the ‘road’ style tyres that came with the bike occasionally slipped a bit and they were quite sketchy and prone to punctures on gravel cycle tracks?

Do 16” off road tyres exist?

Schwalbe has three different MTB tyres available in 12", 16" and 18". Edit, they vary in size and shape, but there is some.

Won't there by tyre clearance issue with those? Look rather fat

The laast one is 16' and 2.00" width. I would think most bicycles could accomodate it.

The middle is 1.40 inch, the first 1.90 so not terribly wide
