I use these. They are for motorcycles but seem to work fine.

They are open on both ends but I just don't push them on all the way. It does protect the frame from the levers.

They work on Magura, Euclid levers as well as Shimano.

I have thought about gluing the end closed but found no reason to do so.

You can buy long strips of the foam open version for motorbikes on eBay. I'm sure one of the shops is not far from here.

But you'll need to fix the end up (bit of super glue).

I think suntour made a closed end model.

Or try foam grip/sleeve places and see what they can do.
They may even send them as samples
Pencil grips may even work.
