Flat ground top speed

BITD, in peak form, I could briefly hold 50kph in a flat sprint, on my M2, running a 48 x 11.

In the downhill, I hit 85kph on it, on a paved downtown street (Smythe St., Fredericton, NB)... Bunnyhops over 80kph sail a LONG way.

Today I'd be lucky to get more than 65kph downhill on it, and would be unlikely to top 40 on the flat without suffering a stroke.

50mph on the flat, but that was after dropping off the moors down the Ringinglow Road into Sheffield!

I remember sprinting head to head on the flat with some mates when I first had a bike computer aged about 14. Peering at the display through the darkness and sodium lights, I boasted I'd hit 30mph (I did win). But when we stopped in some proper light I had to admit that actually I'd really done 3.0 miles since leaving home.
