Any tips for getting them in straight, got to re-fit the Avenger on the Fox tomorrow as the top cup hasn't gone in square (at the second attempt). Want it to go in straight this time and not destroy anything at the same time.
Normally a couple of knocks with a mallet will straighten them but this one seems stuborn.
How do you do it?

Carl.

A big 'g' clamp and 2 blocks of wood. Tighten the g clamp up/take up the slack. Jiggle everything until it is all lined up and central, thenjust tighten the clamp until the headset cup is in there.

Hope this helps

Ian

I always put the cups in the freezer for a couple of hours before fitting, they shrink slightly so it helps them go in.

I've made my own headset press shown below, it has avothane (or urethane) inserts which keep everything in line and square. You could use nylon, rubber or whatever else but I suppose not everybody has access to a lathe.
