Hi Everyone

New to all these weird wheel sizes. While away visiting family in Plymouth I purchased a Carrera Subway one upgaded with a nice Specialized bar stem combo for the princely sum of £70, I have a box full of parts to send down there to fully upgrade the bike XTR 9 speed, Raceface evolve chainset, Avid BB5 brakes and SD 5 levers, DMR V8's all from the spares box. The 27.5 tyres are worn and cracked and the wheels are pretty basic, so I started thinking I have a pair of dual purpose 26" Mavic crossrides sat in the shed doing nothing and several pairs of decent 26" tyres, so was thinking what are the ramifications of fitting these to a 27.5 frame ?

Any advice appreciated.

Cheers

Mark :D

Yup not a prob. In fact you can mix and match a 26 in the frame and a 27.5 or even a 29 in the front.

Re:

As above, fine. Just fit large volume tyres and you'll get close to 27.5 size. Bb will be lower of course, might mess with the front end a bit too.

Ive got a couple of new 27.5 wheel sets if you decide to stick with the designed wheel size.

Re:

Thanks guys, I have a pair of Intense Micro knobbly 2.25 tyres so think those might be the way to go :xmas-big-grin:

Should work fine, big tyres as mentioned. From experience, Smaller wheels in a bigger wheel fork works OK, not as good the opposite way.
XTR is a bit posh though! :D
