First restoration project - Claude Butler

My Regina freewheel 18T arrived this week, so thought I would see how it looked on the rear hub.

I just want to make sure that I am not doing anything untoward with the components I am using/selecting so my first question please folks :cool: Better get it right before I have the wheels made up with the chosen rims.

First pic, is how the Campag Record hub orginally arrived with the fixed 16T cog fitted;

Clearly showing the 'depth' of the thread on the hub;

With the freewheel single cog, and sits a little 'proud' of the threaded hub and some overhang to the thread used for the cog - no locking required here!

So do you think that would work, doesn't look pretty I know but hopefully I have enough thread on the hub for this type of freewheel cassette to work. Any advice appreciated. Or should I go with a different style hub. I do like the larger flange of the Campag hubs :mrgreen:

Lastly on the cassette, I assume it's a 'no no' to take apart the NOS item for a proper degrease of any old lubricant?
