All good advice above -- all I can add is that there will be some trial and error, so some things like cables are best ordered in duplicate. I know this from all too many errors.
And don't be put off if your first results don't match some of the BotM winners / candidates on here -- take inspiration from them, aspire to that level of excellence, but don't be intimidated by them. My various dodgy builds are all results of a 'perfect is the enemy of the good' approach . . .
