FIR rims

i saw some wheels on ebay with them laced up and remember them vaguely from BITD

Were they any good and what happened to them - i can only find a manufacturer of caster type wheels now!

Haha, you're not the only one who's been looking at those wheels. If someone won them and only wanted the hubs I'd love those rims!

I was just curious as to what happened to them

they were never realy widespread - it was mostly mavic BITD - i was "strange" for having Sun CR17A rims (in red!) on my Zaskar in 97

Well I was intending to use Araya RM400 Pro XCs on my Scapin, but since the build is meant to be all-Italian they don't really fit (I just really like them) so if I got hold of some FIR rims I might swap and use the Arayas on something else.

Orange used to do a build spec using Fir rims, I have an Orange stickered Fir laced to a purple middleburn hub with tie-dye Ti spokes... It's a beauty, but I have not been able to source either a matching rim or matching rear hub in the 6 years I have owned it.

I had a pair of FIR rims on my P7, badged R1 by Orange.
Still got one on the rear of my wife's C16R
