If you've got this far then you know how rare this wheelset is, you'll also appreciate how painful it is for me to part with them!
I've been clinging on to them "just in case" but have to admit that I'm never going to get round to a build that justifies them so it's time to move them on so they can ride free again!
I have owned these wheels from new when I bought them directly from FIR, they have been used but not heavily and definitley not abused. They have a few marks and scuffs as you'd expect but nothing major other than a slight ding on the front rim side wall which I have shown in the picture. All decals are still present and in good condition.
Both wheels are 32 spoke.
The front has standard round spokes (DT I believe) and runs nicely.
The rear has flat bladed spokes but at some point has had some replacements whcih unfortunately don't match the originals. The rear has some slight movement sided to side and a little vertically when spun. Nothing major and is probably easily sorted by someone with better wheel building skills than myself, or for a high end unicorn build you might want to rebuild with all matching spokes.
Both Hope hubs are in great condition, spin nicely and have no damage/cracks to the flanges or hub body.
This is a once in a blue moon opportunity to get your hands on a beautiful retro wheelset that would elevate the level of any vintage build, even if it breaks my heart to let them leave!

Lovely wheel set, I was the bike mechanic / wheel builder at a shop through 90s and FIR dealer. My own wheelset were FIR on red hope hubs too, but not the deep rims you have. Built a couple of sets like yours. Always looked soooo good on bikes, slightly heavy rim set for XC racing weeniies though. If I had the spare funds I would be snapping these up for my own builds. Here’s my Gisnt Team MCM build with FIR wheels. You can see some FIR stickers as we had sponsorship from FIR
