Worst job just finished, needed to replace the cassette bearings as they were shot. However it took about 3 hours in total to remove the Action-Tec Ti BB.

RH cup came off using loads of WD-40 and the newly purchased Action-Tec spanner, but LH cup only budged about 1 complete turn :x

So, time to file some flats and get a bloody big spanner...

Still wouldn't budge :x :evil:

Time for drastic measures

Some VERY careful sawing, and a couple of chisel blows later...

YES! Time to celebrate

Thanks Neil - but the NOS black Magura brackets match the original look, and as the build 'll be black & Silver, they're what I'm going with / Alec

Still pondering Chris. Shifterwise it'll probably be XT thumbies, as the underbar shifters don't match the Maguras - angle ends up being all wrong :?

What plans have you for gearing?

Cant beat the Pace fork/hub combo. I'm running the same on mine.

Yes, that's the plan, unless I can find a matching rim and leave the Fatso rim alone. I'll wait with that until the build is nearly done/Spring is close.

I'll keep the offer in mind - maybe I'll find some nice NOS/near NOS rims in my trawls round Swedish bike shops. How many holes was it?

New bits arrived - thanks Ishaw.

A Pace welder decal for the RC50 hub, and an X-lite stem

Here just mocked-up, as the Ahead adapter isn't here yet

Slowly but surely...

That's going to be a stunner when finished. I've got a couple of F5's on the go at the moment and one is going down a similar route so I'll be subscribing to this thread so see how it goes.

Little bit more progress - Aheadset adapter arrived from CRC

Though it needed a little bit of work on a mate's lathe so that it fits nicely

so - snug as a bug...
