Reduced Final reduction to just £155! 1989 Raleigh Technium The Chill XL/22.5 inch Rare Retro/Vintage Mountain Bike

Bike Creatively

Old School Hero
For sale is this fully restored classic late-eighties mountain bike that was way ahead of its time with straight forks, 6061-T8 Aluminium Main Tubes thermal bonded to a steel rear triangle with wishbone seat stays and a steel headtube. Also the rear brake cable on this 31-year-old frame is internally routed 🤯 This version has the Raleigh cycle company of America headbadge and a Raleigh Seattle U.S.A seatstay sticker, plus “The Chill” and 6061 Aluminium stickers on the seat tube.

This was bought as a frameset and I have cleaned/polished the frame and removed, thoroughly cleaned and regreased the original bottom bracket. A broken bottle cage rivnut was replaced and a new Brand X headset fitted. Paint chips and scuffs in steel areas that could rust have been touched up with white paint and clear coat. The drivetrain/groupset is a mixture of Shimano 200GS and 400LX with FC-M200 cranks (170mm) and Shimano Biopace-SG chainrings. The shifters are Shimano ST-M050 and all new cables plus a new KMC X7 chain have been fitted.

The wheels are Ritchey Vantage Sport rims laced to Exage hubs (rear hub serviced/regreased) from an early 90s GT and the tyres are front and rear WTB Velociraptors with similar decal colours to the frameset, which came from a late 90s GT so are old and contain the odd crack but still hold air absolutely fine. Colour matched foam grips have also been fitted to shiny 6061 Aluminium Titec Enduro HF flat bars (57cm wide), which are supported by a retro black stem with straight-through cable routing for the front cantilever brake.

A black Selle Italia saddle with a lovely condition upper sits atop a copper seatpost, which are both functionally solid but the seatpost clamp is scuffed at the top and the plastic on the underside of the saddle contains cosmetic cracks.

For full transparency the left black bar end plug is missing and there is a tiny dent from chain suck that’s roughly 4mm x 1.5mm on the bottom of the drive side chainstay but no one would ever notice this as it’s behind the smallest front chainring and on the underside of the bike. However I want the buyer to know what they’re buying and not have any unwelcome surprises.

The seat tube is 22.5inches from the centre of the bottom bracket to the top of the seat tube.

The top tube is 60cm from centre to centre.

The seatpost height is set up for me and I’m 6ft1 so I’d say this bike is suitable for those 6 foot or taller.

Now asking £155. Collection only from Sheffield S17 or Chesterfield S41 if arranged in advance. (Sorry won’t post this one as want the buyer to see it )

Any questions just fire away!

Nathan

Hi Nathan
For some reason I can't pm you, but did you send me a message about the GT pantera Al on ebay based in Glossop?

EBay auction ending tomorrow (see link above) but I’d take an offer of £150 to end the auction early if anyone’s interested…
