Film and TV stars and their bikes!

******* Baker, who started out in the Fifties New York theater scene, studying at the Actors Studio and working with Elia Kazan, takes her Dunelt bicycle for a spin on the pathways of Central Park. The Baby Doll star, signed to Paramount in the mid-’60s, heated up theaters with her portrayal of platinum blond Hollywood icon Jean Harlow (Harlow).

Unhappy with the studio biz, Baker moved to Rome, did a series of Italian horror pics, returning to New York to appear in Andy Warhol’s Bad and continuing to work in TV and film well into the Nineties.

Hollywood’s aquatic screen sensation Esther Williams appears on the cover of the premiere issue of Movie World magazine. It’s 1946, and Williams career is going swimmingly.

Christopher Jones takes a beater for some casual stunt cycling on a San Diego pier. It’s 1968 and the Tennessee-born actor is making his screen debut as the title character in Chubasco, playing a troubled young man who seeks to set his life straight by working on a tuna boat. Jones went on to star as the rock star/presidential candidate Max Frost in the cult hit Wild in the Streets.

Snipe: “Christopher Jones does a bicycle stunt while relaxing on San Diego pier between scenes for Warner Bros.’ ‘CHUBASCO,’ Technicolor picture in which he stars with Richard Egan, Susan Strasberg, and Ann Sothern.”
