For those of us who don't have white bikes, US exotica and are lonely single people, the Cheap, Crappy BotM thread.

Bottom end £90 1995 Kona Hahanna up a tree. (Crappy pic in keeping with the nature of the thread)

Now with mudguards as my daily commuter.

£34 1987? Specialised Rockhopper, in the middle, embarrasing all the rather nice bikes around it. The Ibis owner is even hiding behind the rocky thing)

I guess he was afraid of such a beautiful creation falling

At last, a thread pitched at my level...

My cheap, crappy, not-a-BOTM-entry:-

Built as a hack, my 2nd 95 DB Apex - christened my Warren Zevon bike (work it out...) - frame cost me about £45, forks (although the colour doesn't match, they are correct for the frame and year, just the alternative colour) £10.

I like the colourway. Subtle but distinctive. like the bonnet on Mr Bean's car.

And the way the valves are not lined up with the labels.

An anarchist bike.

See that, just to the top of the seat-stays?

That, my friend, is an unused canti hanger.

I know how to walk on the wild side.

Put this in the fancy pants naked aluminium thread but due to it's cruddiness belongs here.

My old Daewoo Genius messed about with by my son.

Frame is still in the shed. Might stick some bits on it again. It's a lovely light stiff (and quite tiny) frame.

When I first started on this site, I was picking up loads of mid to low end stuff from my local tip. I would sometimes get these bikes for little or no money, build them up and then punt them out once I got bored.

Doesnt happen so much these days but most of the current riders have been built for 50p and a bag of chips.

like this one, a frame from Weeman, forks by Car-Boot and bits by ebay:
