All of these have come out of hibernation from long-term storage in the barn. The Sugino Fuse 500s were the choice of weight weenies like me during the 90’s - they were a key way of getting bikes towards the magic 20lbs. They are 684grams, with all rings and ring bolts. Quite light then. And strong, being cold-forged. Big on the Audax scene. The lengths are interesting...I always used shorter cranks since I am 170cms and it reduced ground strikes. Not many 170s around and are a great choice if you are a smaller rider. The low mileage on the rings is because I was running 10 or so bikes during the 90’s and some of them saw very little use.
So...
Sugino Fuse 500 - 175 - original rings. rings used but good, many miles left.
Sugino Fuse 500 - 170 - original rings. rings used but good, many miles left. Can’t find exactly the right captive nuts - the bolts are Sugino stainless, but the captive nuts just need reducing a little and all will be well. These seem to go for about 40-50gbp without rings. So...55:00 gbp
Sugino Impel compact drive from 1994 - 175mm very low mileage indeed. Original rings in almost new condition. These were a choice of American builders since they were so light and strong - and although OEM were a lot better than many of the boutique cranksets - really light and really strong with excellent Q. 55:00 gbp.
Shimano LX FC-M563 170 - original labels intact - original rings - good rings but with quite a bit of mileage on them - still quite a lot left though. 45:00 gbp - Sorry SOLD
Shimano STX RC FC-MC40 - original orange sticky label intact - original rings - again lots of mileage left in them - 45:00
ONZA buzz saw. Legendary porcupine-based ring. I remember buying this from Covent Garden Cycles and liking it so much I never fitted it. Dope. There’s one in the ‘States for 35usd without packing. So...25.00 gbp
And the best ‘til last.
Middleburn limited edition RS3 100 sets - this is no83. I bought these in Lewes Cycles in the mid 90’s just after Bill Rayment had sold the shop. 175mm, with the special locking ring bolts (which were 40.00 I seem to remember), and matching alloy ring bolts.
130.00 gbp for the cranks, 150.00 gbp with the fittings.
I’ve not been silly and raised the price due to the words ‘Limited edition’ laser-etched on the arms - the only benefit of which is to make the arms a fempto-gram lighter.
Oh...more
And a very early XCM RH crank arm, from a Very Early Cannondale. Left has gone missing deep in the barn somewhere. Karma. SORRY NOW GONE.
All plus postage to where you are.
Dibs via PM.
