Totally pointless - take a decent wheel, and add a cover that adds nothing to the wheel, other than weight.

I want one. Nice work. :)

Wondered where you were going with this
Then you hit me with the sucker punch

It's style over function. Adding unneccesary weight, and noise. And if that really mattered, we wouldn't all be riding old bike would we?

It looks good, VERY good. it's been done well, and brought a smile to my face. :D :D We all rode with wheel covers BITD anyways, right?

I never had one :( but I sure would join the queue

Re:

I'm now working on a clear(ish) version of the Disc drive Pro,
What colour is the legit cord on this version?
It almost looks silver in the pics I've grabbed from the net.

Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

Very impressive effort. Is the sheet flat, if so how do you get it to lie against the spokes in a 'cone' shape?

Re: Homemade Tioga Discdrive Prototype. Pic heavy

With clear disk, spokes would be visible throught.

So do you envisage to make real diskdrive, instead of factice ?

Re:

I'm going to make it as clear as I can get away with without making the original wheels spokes visible.

Thanks ishaw. The net is pretty bad for getting a read on colours.

I cut a section out of the circle depending whether it's drive side or not. Then I give it a tweak and rejoin. Easy....Not really that easy but you get the idea.

Hey Brewza

Your efforts look fantastic. Have you looked at model aircraft covering film as an option? Monokote and the like are very easy to work with, have a heat activated adhesive backing and are heat shrinkable so conform nicely to oddball shapes.

Cheers, Ted

Re:

Thanks Ted.
I've been using 3M stone chip protection film which is pretty good but I'll definitely have to have a look at the Monokote film.

I'm only ever going to produce `Faux' (fraudulent) versions.

I'm using polycarbonate sheet as the base for the clear version which is thinner and a bit lighter as well. :D

After assembling the wheel today against my wheel, I've discovered the `string' pattern matches exactly the existing spoke pattern (except for the outer strings, which doesn't matter).

When the sheet is cable tied into position, it sits very flush and the original spokes are pretty difficult to see.

I'm stoked!!

This means the clear versions will be very successful (with a little fine tuning).
