Old School Grand Master
Right then - I am off to an 80's themed party next weekend and desperatly after some idea's of what to wear, I have searched the bay and cant really gather any inspiration.

So what can the guys from Retrobike suggest  , obviously budget is key, I have looked in some local charity shops but they seem to be rather up market for old clobber :?

I have had a few thoughts on the basis of what I was doing in the 80's and school uniform and flourescent socks are all I can think of  what about an early surf t-shirt like Hot Tuna or Fat Willy's (of which you can still buy today in the same look) and some lairy bermuda shorts..... yea try finding some its impossible.

feel free to post your suggestions and if anyone has any 80's clobber that they want to sell or swap for some retro goodies then fire away, I have some nice 1992 XT parts that could leave my spares for some good stuff ;)

Cheers

Here's a whole website about this very subject: http://www.80s-fashion-fancy-dress.com/index.html

Personally, I'd go for the Crockett and Tubbs look...

Depending on what look you're most comfortable with, I'd suggest one of the following:

Preppy: Izod Lacoste short sleeve shirt with the collar turned up of course tucked into a pair of Levi's or Jordache jeans and a pair of Bass Weejun penny loafers. To complete the look, make sure to get a feathered haircut, comb it back and hairspray it into submission. Also, bring a pair of Ray Ban Wayfarer sunglasses (you can always put them on top of your head if it's dark or inside). Edit: forgot to mention you GOTTA include a Members Only jacket with this look. :D

The Anti-Prep or Goth: this would be the new-wave, Billy Idol look. Spike your hair, find a pair of black jeans and a black leather vest to wear over a white mesh tank top or mesh t-shirt. Throw on some leather wrist bands and matching belt - preferably with the metal spikes that go all around them. Top it off with some black leather boots. Be careful that you don't look like the Road Warrior - you want a bit more rock 'n roll polish than that. ;)

The 3rd member of Wham!: if you're particularly confident and want raise a few eyebrows, find a pair of tight fitting jeans and a white "Choose Life" tshirt that's 2 sizes bigger than you wear. Don't shave for a few days to get a perfectly sculpted 5 o'clock shadow and again, feather that hair back. Top it off with a pair of white Reebok high top sneakers and you'll be yanked left and right by all the party goers asking you to pose with them in their pictures. :D

I went to a mates 40th 80's party the other day and i went as a Beastie Boy, got a huge gold chain, VW badge, stonewash jeans, hightop sneakers, tracksuit top and rapper hat. I got all my kit off ebay for about £20ish.
