Fake Shimano cable housing?

Hi,

The Shimano SLR words on e.g. this ad or this one are not as crisp as on some Shimano SLR housing that I have here handy for more than three decades. Plus, there are simply painted whereas on the old ones that I have, the Shimano SLR words are etched. Are these nevertheless genuine? Or is it well known that copies are selling everywhere?

Had a bike come in today the owner had bought and fitted a packaged "shimano cables" kit off amazon, but his brakes didn't work because there was so much friction in the cable under load, twisting around when you squeeze the levers.

Definitely not shimano.
They didn't look like it, feel like it or behave like it.

looked like BSO cables, but didn't ever work that well

I use the old tried and testes.... "if it's too good to be true it probably is"
plus I only buy from the makers own Amazon store like Shimano or Ann Summers etc if Im looking for a decent quality item
