Fake Pulstar hubs ??

Re:

Looks like the purple one will have cartridge bearings. All the Pulstars I have come across had cartridge bearings.

Re:

so is there a way to identity early USA made hubs vs latter crappy offshored ones?

FYI and just in case someone still reads this thread nowadays, the 10mm difference is because the purple one isn't a regular front hub: it's the 1st edition of the Suspension aka "Mombo" front hub. This model also had some issues so was re-engineered in a 2nd iteration. You can read more about this at http://www.bikepro.com/products/hubs/hubs_pulstar.html

Keep the shell, dump the rest, get proper bearings and maybe a titanium aftermarket axle and done you got a nice Pulstar hub again. The shell seems legit.

Hmm taking a closer look to compare with the original ones (the purple is the original one) with the silver and gunmetal ones, the shell is also different.
The lenght is about ± 10mm wider.

Re:

I have zero knowledge about these hubs but in the first pic of the op the axle looks well bent!
