F E Dunning. A classy Willesden gentleman builder.

Well, I don't disagree actually: )

But I do like to experiment, & after all, don't we all upgrade our bikes as & when we can? Whether it's 1955 or 2005?
It can go back to 'original' any time, but it rides much better with alloys, whatever size, than it ever did with steel rims.
Choice of tyres with 27"s is very limited.

Love it with clean lines , and the paint job is amazing. That is a lovely bike I'm especially jealous as I'm from Dollis Hill just up the road

Just up the road, from Gloucester??
I assume you mean from Willesden?

There are people in the Willesden CC who know all about FE Dunning.
You just need to ask one of them: ) I checked with the club secretary & she told me all I know.
A lovely, helpful crew there: )

Oi! Please excuse my lack of knowledge of our Londinium province.
I'm one of the unclean provincials.... I'm not apologising, just explaining: )

But I do appreciate the village/town/city social layers....
Good bikes are still cool, wherever they come from I say!

My F E Dunning is a proud example of the produce of Willesden.
I rest my case: )

Re:

And so you should be, it's a lovely bike. I also like. That you've tinkered with it to make it more practical to ride, rather than just for special occasions. I have a Brian Rourke that gets used winter or summer because it's such a great ride.

All my bikes are ridden regularly, & isn't it cool to experiment?
I've just 'finished' fitting some mudguards to it after several days butchering, but have yet to try it in anger.... Almost impossible clearances at the front!! Photos anon...

I don't know much about Brian Rourke but have a similar(?) Dave Marsh that is very clean, tight & light:

Re:

Your wheels need to have some skinny amber wall tyres. I have had the same clearance issues and found that Panaracer 27x1" give the retro narrow look with good clearance.
